A group of 7 of us ate here, in the upstairs open plan function area. We will make Shanghai City a regular venue for our group, with larger numbers in future. With just about every "chain" eatery present in Hanley, Shanghai City is a one off. You can enjoy very attentive service and interesting food here. So if you want to escape the corporates, have food that's not been created by a Marketing Department, in a nice atmosphere; Shanghai City truly is a Hidden Gem!
This place is absolutely fabulous the food is amazing the hospitality is amazing. I can't recommend it enough it was birthday and I was made to feel amazing I shall certainly return and look forward to seeing them again. I will be back very soon. All the best!!
We tried this after all of our local Chinese takeaways were closed and we were all delighted with the quality and freshness of the food. It's definitely a hidden gem and considerably better than we were expecting, especially given the bland and basic appearance of the place. The staff are extremely friendly as well. This is now our new go-to Chinese despite being a bit further out. Highly recommended!!!!
Excellent food. Staff very attentive. I took my son's has a treat before I came home. We had the 13.99. Buffet. Too numerous to mention what was on offer. But we would recommend anything. Only thing what wasn't right was the egg fried rice.. tasted a bit too dry..well done. We will be coming again.
Wonderful place for very tasty food.. Very friendly and helpful staff.. Had food as take away, very reasonably priced. Enjoyed complementary green tea and prawn crackers while we waited on food to be freshly prepared. Would eat here again.. Would definitely recommend eating in this hidden gem!
